Song # 813.2 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. We read in the Book of Acts in chapter 2, that Peter addresses the crowd to explain the arrival of the Holy Spirit. But the people were still concerned and Peter again spoke to the crowd. (See song # 812.2- Peter Addresses The Crowd).
“Let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you sacrificed, both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36). When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other Apostles “Brothers, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37). Peter replied “Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). “The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off - for all whom the Lord our God will call” (Acts 2:39). With many other words he warned them, and he pleaded with them “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation” (Acts 2:40). Those who accepted his message were baptised, and about three thousand were added to their number that day (Acts 2:41).
Thought for today: Jesus asks us to join Him for life.
Thought for the future: now is the time to invest in heaven. Where will you spend your eternity?
