The death of people significant to us never leaves us the same. Some harden and worsen (Saul at Stephen’s murder, Acts 7:58-8:1) but many are changed for the better. While the Jews thought they had gotten rid of a Messiah wannabe and the soldiers thought they had finished just another gruesome routine, Joseph and Nicodemus gave up their secrecy and realized that life and Love Incarnate had given them a second chance to show themselves followers of Christ. There might be something here for other secret followers today.
