2 Timothy 2:3-4

I. THE SOLDIER’S “TASK”
A. To FOLLOW
Matthew 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
B. To FIGHT
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
II. THE SOLDIER’S “TRAINING” 2 Tim. 2:3
A. DISCIPLINE
24-1Cor.9.27" class="scriptRef">1 Corinthians 9:24-27 24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

IV. THE SOLDIER’S “TESTING”
A. PHYSICAL

Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
C. SPIRITUALLY
