After sitting in silence for seven days with his friends, Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth. He wished he had never been born and wondered why he suffered in anguish of soul. In his first statement Eliphaz begins to roughly outline his reasons for Job's trouble without consideration of God's grace and mercy.
