Israel was in despair, they were in bad shape. They had forsaken God and had gone into exile, those that were left were dying out to the Lord to help them in their present condition.

They asked the LORD to see their condition, they shared with Him, the fact that the age men had been taken, the young men were placed into forced labor, they abused the women of the city..
