Genesis 39:2-5
2 The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. 3 When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did, 4 Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. 5 From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the Lord blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the Lord was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field.
Christians are the channels of blessings. Joseph's life as we see in today's scripture is a good example of that. Even though he was sold as a slave against his will, he served where he was faithful. Later in Joseph's life, we see him serving faithfully even when he was put in prison without any fault. God blessed Joseph and his master through him. I hope that my children would be like Joseph wherever you go and whatever you do. Why would God bless Joseph? Because no matter where he goes he lived in the presence of God and no matter what he did, he did it for God. This is the core of the Christian work ethic. Puritans who are the founders of America tried to follow Joseph's example. Such a work ethic eventually made Joseph the prime minister of Egypt. That work ethic of puritans made America great as it is today. I pray my children to follow the footsteps of Joseph and puritans, serving faithfully in whatever you do believing You do that for God in the presence of God, even today. May God bless you and your work.
