Welcome to Calvary's Online Campus!
In this Bible study, Pastor Robert walks us through one of the most pivotal moments in all of Scripture — the death of King David and the establishment of Solomon's throne. This is a message about transition, accountability, faithfulness, and the sovereign hand of God over kingdoms and lives.
What You'll Learn:
We begin with a heartfelt reflection on the life of David — a man chosen by God from obscurity, a shepherd boy overlooked by his own family who became the greatest king Israel ever knew. From facing Goliath to dancing before the Lord, from deep friendship with Jonathan to his devastating moral failure with Bathsheba, David's life is a portrait of grace, consequence, and mercy. God never threw David away — and that truth speaks directly to every one of us today.
There are three major confrontations that define the early days of Solomon's reign and reveal his character as a leader under God:
1. Adonijah's Fatal Request (Verses 13-25)
Adonijah returns with what looks like a simple request, but Solomon sees through the scheme and responds decisively — ambition is still ambition no matter how it's dressed up.
2. Abiathar Removed, Joab Executed (Verses 26-35)
Solomon deals with two men who chose the wrong side, honoring both God's mercy and His justice, proving that no prophecy of God ever falls to the ground unfulfilled.
3. Shimei Crosses the Line (Verses 36-46)
Shimei is given one clear boundary, agrees to it, and then breaks it — reminding us that God's boundaries are not suggestions and there are lines we cross at our own peril.
