In James 1:12, we study the endurance believers are to have in the face of difficulties. Hard times are not an excuse to sin, but rather we should learn faithful endurance through them. We can learn from how Jesus faced intense suffering and hardship and yet never mocked or reviled in return. Our main motivator for obedience should be a genuine love for God. All of God’s blessings to us should cause us to respond with joyful obedience. God also lays out heavenly rewards as an additional motivator to obedience.
