Text: Acts 13:1-3
Title: Sequel: The Gospel Advances
Preacher: Rev. Greg Brower
We continue our whirlwind tour through the book of Acts this week. Acts tells of the Church’s spontaneous expansion, from Jerusalem to Judea to Samaria to the ends of the earth. Through history and sermons, Acts testifies to the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives and our joyful call to multiply—in our relationships, jobs, communities and, ultimately, through the planting of churches. We look to Acts to learn together how we can follow God in his call to make disciples through both personal relationships and institutional movements like church planting. As we consider Acts 13:1-3, we meet the church in Antioch, a church defined by God inspired reconciliation and redemption and full of diversity. As they gather in prayer, God calls them to give their best and they respond openhandedly to the God. Where might we need to open our hands and offer our best back to God?
