Timothy joins Paul and Silas on Paul's second missionary journey. Paul receives a vision to go to Macedonia to preach. While in Philippi the team baptizes Lydia, a seller of purple, and shortly after get imprisoned. At night in the prison, Paul and Silas are praying and singing hymns when suddenly there is a great earthquake shakes the jail, causing all of the doors to open and the shackles to fall off. The keeper of the prison, realizing what has happened, draws his sword to kill himself, but Paul calls out to him. "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here." The jailkeeper then asks to be saved and Paul happily helps him convert. The magistrates then ask them to leave the city after learning Paul and Silas are uncondemned Romans. After encouraging the house of Lydia they depart from the city.
