Morning Verses With Mike
I'm doing daily Bible verse readings to share, grow, and impact others for good!

Acts 28:4-5 (NLT)
'The people of the island saw it hanging from his hand and said to each other, “A murderer, no doubt! Though he escaped the sea, justice will not permit him to live.” But Paul shook off the snake into the fire and was unharmed. '

To understand this verse and where I am going is more about understanding the story where it's coming from. In this chapter, Malta is a very small island. And, Paul has been sailing to Rome… he weathers a storm at sea for weeks, a shipwreck, terrible cold rain as he lands, and now he has washed ashore in an unfamiliar land.

We have all ended up in an unfamiliar place. It's scary, it's unmapped, and we didn't expect to be there. There is an importance to the journey. There is something to be said for blind trust and faith in these situations. God is who we must trust!

In this situation with the islanders, and with a snake clinging to him… Paul maintains his faith. He doesn't flinch or worry. He just shakes it off. It probably isn't that he isn't scared. It's not that he is not fearful of the snake, or the response of the islanders - his faith in God is stronger than his fear.

You see, faith is not the absence of doubt. It is the will to power through doubt. Faith is the power of the unseen.
We all have doubts - but trust in Him anyway!!!!!!!!
