Anxiety Is a Sign God Is Asking You to Trust Him More

People often misquote the Bible when it comes to worry and anxiety. The Bible does not say don’t plan for tomorrow. It does not forbid working hard so you have what you need. Rather, the Bible states not to worry about tomorrow.

Matthew 6:31-34, “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

If you aren’t planning or working hard, it’s natural to feel anxious. God’s peace is not meant to encourage irresponsible living and procrastination. But no matter how well you plan or how hard you work, if you are not trusting in the Lord, you will be filled with worry.

When you feel anxious, this is a sign you must trust God more.
