Where Did "Hypocrite" Come From? ????

Did Jesus invent the term hypocrite? While the Greek word hypokrites existed in ancient theater to describe "an actor wearing a mask," Jesus is credited with coining the term as a moral description. He took a word from the stage and applied it to the heart when calling out here Pharisees.


What Hypocrisy Actually Is
A hypocrite isn't just someone who fails to live up to their standards or belief systems (that's just being human). A hypocrite is someone who intentionally wears a false identity mask to appear more righteous than they truly are. It’s a performance, not a struggle.

The Reality Check The truth?
We all wear masks. We all perform. We all have a human nature that strives for the approval of man vs the approval of God. We all need the grace of Jesus to take the mask off and find our true identity in Him.
