We were never promised a life filled with comfort and convenience. In fact, following Christ often means we are promised the exact opposite. We are told to take up our cross daily, to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, and that those who hate our Lord will hate us too. We were never told that we wouldn't walk through trials, but we were told that we wouldn't walk through them alone.

Corrie ten Boom endured circumstances and suffering we could not begin to imagine, but she managed to resist, overcome evil, and forgive her persecutors. She saved hundreds of Jews and shared the gospel in a concentration camp. We should pray that God would give us such strength.
