God is moving in the earth, pouring out His Spirit in greater ways and with more God-opportunities than we’ve witnessed in our lifetimes. There’s also greater opposition to those voicing a biblical worldview. But we’re not the first to be persecuted for expressing God’s truth, and how we respond makes a difference. Jesus’ disciples responded by “rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace” for proclaiming Jesus’ name (Acts 5:41). They didn’t rejoice because everything was easy or pleasant. They rejoiced because their joy was anchored in their relationship with Jesus. So, when we face opposition, our core response should be to thank God for being counted worthy. It will help us overcome fear, shame, discomfort, and refocus our thoughts on the joy of honoring the Lord.
