Title: ASA'S LAST YEARS
Content:
1. Asa thwarts an attack from Baasha king of Israel (1-6)
The kingdom of Judah was at peace under King Asa for 20 years when Baasha king of Israel went up against him. Asa turned to Ben-Hadad king of Aram for help. Baasha could not fight a war on two fronts and withdrew. Asa's plan was costly but worked as planned.
2. You have done a foolish thing (7-14)
When Asa fought the Cushites, relying on God, the kingdom of Judah won a great victory over a seemingly stronger army. Asa was rebuked by Hanani the seer for not putting his trust in God. Calculating plans that are sure to work can limit the extent to what can actually be accomplished when our trust is in God. Asa was listed among the good kings, but his reign ended sourly when he stopped depending on God and more on his own resources.

Prayer: Lord, you are almighty God and created us to do great things. May we live by faith to see your kingdom come and will be done in our lives.

One Word: Trust in the Lord.
