We see Peter’s naive outburst today.
Mark 14:29 Peter told him, “Even if everyone falls away, I will not.” 30 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to him, “today, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” 31 But he kept insisting, “If I have to die with you, I will never deny you.” And they all said the same thing.
The challenge for us is not to naively think we won’t fall into sin. It’s quite possible for us to be just as proud and strong and wrong. We need to understand our frailty and vulnerability, our propensity to sin, to not be naive about this.
Rather we need to build in safeguards. And when we do sin to come humbly before our Lord and seek forgiveness.
