Elder-In-Training Calvin Holston guest preaches at Truth Bible Church on Acts 8:26-40 in exploring the elements of how we are emulate the Ethiopian Eunuch and Philip, who was the Evangelist God used to explained to him the gospel. Calvin explores how the Ethiopian Eunach's salvation came about from three main points: 1) The Preparation, 2) The Presentation, and 3) The Response.
Throughout the sermon Calvin gives several practical applications...
- How ready are we to GO and be obedient in preaching the gospel wherever we go? Do we have the humility of Philip to be used of God whenever and wherever God chooses to send or use us?
- Do we have joy and obedience resulting from our salvation as the Eunuch clearly demonstrated and experienced? Have you been baptized after believing in Jesus - not as the means to be saved, but as the PROOF and immediate obedience (Matthew 28:18-20) showing that Jesus is truly your personal LORD?
- Do we have a correct interpretation and understanding of Isaiah 53? (Is the prophecy about Israel, Isaiah, or Jesus?)
Calvin concludes the sermon talking about human PRIDE in contrast with God's amazing GRACE. He warns about judging others and failing to pray for those who do not yet know Christ or those who currently stand in opposition to us and our faith. He calls you and the Biblical Church to PREACH the gospel even in the face of persecution and resist living a life for self. "Therefore, "be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work." (2 Timothy 2:21)
