Proverbs 5:15-23 is our text today and there is a continuation of Solomon's counsel to his sons from the earlier verses. The whole counsel in chapter 5 is to not be enticed by the immoral woman. The caution is to the son and is specific to personal fidelity to marriage, whether then or future.

At the heart of the problem, however, is the enticement for other things. The spiritual cause is much larger than only sensual things. The problem is rooted in a lack of contentment. In this case the hypothetical contentment with the wife of his youth is challenged by the enticement of another woman.

To work this out further the question then becomes, can a man be fully committed to his wife but not be enticed by other interests? The answer is certainly, yes. People can be enticed and want for many other things, the devil goes after the weakness of each individual.

The issue then becomes one of contentment. Can it be said of us we are content with what we have? No matter what it is, is it enough?

This is the matter at hand in Proverbs 5. We look closer at this today. We meet at 8:30 or 10:00 a.m. PST and we Live Stream from our website.
