"For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.""
1 Corinthians 1:26-31 (ESV)

Music by Eric A. Graef, 2018

This was a fun song to write, partly because it was the first Scripture Song I wrote for one of my favorite passages. I initially was just focusing on verses 30-31 but kept adding parts and context to it. The song basically has three parts and while it is a long song, it can be shortened and simply sung straight through. I do like the repeated phrase at the end, as that is the focus and climax of what Paul was getting at in the whole section. The gospel is all about boasting in what God alone has done for us through his son, Jesus Christ.

Btw, this song is incomplete in my book because I didn't write in a reference yet. I try to sing the reference at the end of the song, so I'll have to get to work on that.
