John 18:12-27 Peter’s denial

1. Could Peter have avoided the temptations of denial?
=Jesus wanted all of his disciples to run away, but Peter didn’t follow the direction from Jesus
2. To whom did they take Jesus after arrest?
=Annas
Who was Annas?
=former high priest

3. Why did Peter have to wait outside of the door? 18:15,16
=entering was difficult.
How might Peter have felt when he finally was allowed to enter?
=Peter had felt positive
When something blocks your way, what do you do?
=we need to pray whether it is God’s will or not

4. What did the servant girl at the door ask Peter? 18:17
=you also are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?
Why did she ask that question?
=just regular check
What was Peter’s answer?
=I am not
Peter said that in the middle of the night just to one servant girl. Does it really matter?
=it matters for God. Every word is matter.
=we must to talk as like we talk to God

5. What was Peter doing at the courtyard? 18:18
=Peter was warming his body
Why was it dangerous for him to do that?
=He surrounds himself by enemy
=He invited trouble.
Was Peter aware of the danger or not?
=Peter was sleeping
=People expose themselves to dangers without awareness.

6. What might Peter have felt when he saw and heard the interrogation of Jesus? 18:22
=Peter felt fear
What did the people around the fire ask Peter? 18:25
=you also are not one of his disciples, are you?
What did Peter answer?
=I am not

7. Who else challenged Peter? 18:26?
=one of the servants of the high priest
What was Peter’s response?
=Peter again denied it
What might Jesus have felt when He heard Peter’s denial?
=Jesus felt pain

=Satan’s temptation
What caused Jesus to stand firm before His accusers and coming death by crucifixion?
=Jesus prayed and prepared for his death

9. Why was it significant for Peter to hear the rooster’s crowing?
John13:38 –Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow till you have denied me three times
Luke22:61, 62
=Peter’s self-confidence was destroyed. Then he could have felt Jesus’s heart
=We need to prayer and humble mind.
=the word of Jesus remembered

10. How could Peter become a great apostle of Jesus after such failure?
=repentance recovers all our sin from past and sin and failure
=by God’s grace, we can overcome our past sin
