The Holy Spirit is sometimes expressed in the Bible as the breath of God.

In Genesis 1 we see the Spirit of God at work as God enters into the chaos of nothingness and then breathes creation into existence.

And then in Ezekiel 37:1-14, we see the Holy Spirit at work as God breathes out life onto dead, dry bones. Where there was once hopelessness and death, there is now new hope and new life.

Finally, in John 20:21-22, we see Jesus breath out the Holy Spirit on His disciples, and their dry bones are reborn into sent ones, who will breath out this resurrection hope onto other dry bones - fulfilling Jesus' mission to redeem and restore all of creation.
