In order to have your full attention and submission, he requires you to be broken so that he can make you whole again!

#Psalm 15:17 says:  The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.

You may have been thinking to do many things as a sacrifice for the Lord - slow down - God requires "you" not "your deeds".
You may are new to this - in that case I want to tell you that you are one individual Jesus loves incredibly. If you have a broken heart, speak to Him about all the broken pieces & He will accept you with all your brokenness & heal you completely.
