Introduction
Last week brought us to the “fullness of the Time” discussion. In this
passage it describes the end of the OT Law era (Dispensation of the
Law) and the transition to the Church Age (Dispensation of the Holy
Spirit/Dispensation of Grace, etc.). Far beyond being important
truths to know and understand, they come with fantastic blessings
attached. Today we continue to learn about being alive in the most
wonderful time of human history (to this point) to be alive.
1. Before the Fullness of the Time – Gal. 4:1-3
Galatians 4 involves an extended analogy (illustration) and an
allegory – but must still be understood literally – recognizing the
figures of speech being employed
 The Heir, while a young child – is under the strict direction of
the appointed guardian.
 Even so, the OT Israelites were under God’s appointed guardian,
the OT Mosaic Law
 BUT GOD HAD (and STILL HAS) a PLAN!
2. But When the Fullness of the Time Had Come - Gal. 4:4
 “But, when the fullness of the time had come…”
 God’s appointed times (dispensations) are the clearly
described/proscribed ages of human history. BIBLE PROPHESY
describes those already past & those yet to come!
 THIS GLORIOUS TRUTH – is every bit as real and relevant today!
3. BECAME SONS – Gal. 4:5-7
 Redeemed from the Law
 Graduated from guardianship to full son-ship (adopted as Sons)
 Indwelt by the Holy Spirit (by whom we cry “Abba, Father”)
 Therefore – as Sons we are also “HEIRS”
Timeless Truth
We live in the most wonderful time of human history to be alive of
any age up to this point. We live in this Church Age. As believers we
are free from the control of the OT Law, we have the indwelling Holy
Spirit of God who is lovingly providing an unprecedented intimacy
with God – never before possible.

Living Lesson
Every one of us who is a Believer in Christ should be continually asking
ourselves if we are enjoying the full level of glorious privilege we have
been given by God. If we feel distant from God or if we aren’t taking
advantage of the intimate, “Abba Father” relationship that we can
have, it isn’t because the Father has withdrawn the privilege from us.
It is entirely our responsibility to confess our sin and be restored to
the place of fellowship with Him. Our fellowship with the eternal God
of the Universe is the most glorious privilege and joy imaginable.
