On this Pentecost Sunday commemorating the arrival of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples in Jerusalem, we come to chapter nine in our study of the Apostle Paul's letter to the disciples of ancient Roman. Whether Jewish or Gentile, in Jerusalem or Rome, then & now, the promise of the Father to grant salvation in Christ & the fullness of His Holy Spirit "is to you & to your children & to all afar off, as many as the Lord...will call" (Acts 2:39). As many as answer the call are "children of the Promise" (Rom 9:8; Gal 4:28) & indeed children of God (Rom 8:16; John 1:12).
