Believers often have this wrong idea that if "I can only get through this rough patch, then I'll be able to really enjoy the Lord and flourish". According to Jeremiah 17, you can flourish during rough times. Even in the hardest times, you flourish because the life of God is coming into your soul continually. The leaf stays green, the fruit continues to produce, and so on. I find that thought very encouraging, don't you? This verse says that no matter what darkness you are experiencing, no matter what bugging you, I can flourish. As a tree planted by streams of living water, I can flourish right now.
