So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

What does it mean to be a debtor to the flesh? To be a debtor to somebody means you owe them something. Paul is painting the picture of a lost man, that he is a debtor to the flesh. The flesh is that corrupt part of our body, and Paul is saying that the Christian is not a debtor to that.
