Pastor Phil Dooley shares with us about the power of a healthy church.
"As we walked back to church for the 5:00 PM service, he pulled me alongside, nearly in tears, and thanked me and the other discipleship group leaders and said this was the greatest birthday he'd ever had. He also mentioned that it used to affect him a lot that his dad wasn't around, but since he's found his place in church, the gap has been filled by his discipleship leaders and youth pastors. And then this guy writes, "Amongst all the craziness of being a youth pastor and the hundreds of young people, both rich and poor, it's easy to forget the simple and life-changing power of what we do.
Charles didn't only get to have a birthday he could never have had outside of church community, but the gap of fatherlessness was filled as well, practically by his leaders and spiritually by him coming to know Jesus."
