COVENANT
A Covenant
Biblically, a covenant is a conditional promise made to humanity by God. In other words, it is an agreement
between God and His children or a solemn agreement between God and people.
God required His children to come to an agreement in order for Him to have a good relationship with his
people.
This word covenant has its origin in Latin meaning coming together of 2 parties making a contract and
agreeing on certain promises, privileges and responsibilities.
God made several covenants with people and they became a way of helping people to understand how we
can be able to relate to God and He relate to us.

Everything that God does is based on covenant e.g. the Old and the New Testament are old and new
covenants.
So, God is a God of covenants and He is the sovereign Administrator of covenants. All His people must
abide with the covenants that He has made with them.
Essentially, when we become born again, we make a formal agreement (covenant) with God that if we
follow Him faithfully, He will make us inherit the eternal kingdom. As PCEA Zimmerman we need to
make a covenant with our God so that He can walk with us through this year 2022.
