1 Corinthians 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.
We must not understand to believe, but believe to understand.
Only believers can understand in order to be wise
God gives wisdom
Human wisdom is frequently a spiritual road block to accepting, yet another step of faith.
Too many people believe that they are much too intellectual to be gullible enough to trust in God's supernatural existence, and so they die in their sins.
Too many Christians, yes, I believe they are saved and thus Christians, still trust in their intellect too much to actually rest in their faith and so their quality of life suffers in Christ and unnecessarily so.
Yes, be pleased with your intellect: it is likely a gift from God
but don't let your refined intellect hinder your innocent trust in Christ.
In a Christian, head knowledge, we are warned, can easily be a stumbling block to a life of faith in Jesus.
