Hebrews 7 brings in Melchizedek to make a bigger point about Jesus. The old system of priests was temporary and limited. It depended on lineage, and it kept needing to be replaced. Jesus steps in as a completely different kind of priest. Eternal, steady, and fully able to bring people to God without interruption. This is about a kind of access that does not wear out or pass on.
