1:22 Since you have cleansed your lives [or, "souls"] by obedience to the truth, you must now show constant love for one another according to sincere brotherly love out of a clean heart.

2:10 At one time you were not a nation [or, “people”], but now you are God's nation [or, “people”]. You were not being shown mercy, but now you have been shown mercy.

2:11 Dearly loved ones, as foreigners and as exiles I urge you to avoid human desires which make war against life [or, "the soul"].

2:12 Hold out your way of life as something beautiful among the nations! This way by what they say that is evil about you, as if you are criminals, because of your fine actions (which they observe) they may praise God at the time of his visit.
