5:1 You should not attempt to discipline an older man. Rather, encourage him as a father; encourage younger men as brothers;

5:2 encourage older women as mothers; encourage younger women as sisters in every morally acceptable way.

5:17 The elders who have been caring for [or, "managing"] things in a fine way must be counted worthy of twice as much respect [or, "double honor"], most of all those who are working hard with the Message and with teaching.

5:18 For the sacred writing says, "You will not restrain a threshing ox" [Deuteronomy 25:4]. Also, “the worker is deserving of his wage” [or, "reward"].
