11:17 With faith #Abraham had presented Isaac when he was being tested. It is the one who accepted [or, "submitted to"] the promises who was presenting his uniquely born child [or, "only-begotten child" (see note in TGM to this verse)],

11:18 about whom it was said, "By Isaac a seed will be named for you" [Genesis 21:12].

11:19 Abraham figured God is so powerful he can even raise a person from the dead, where he received Isaac back but in a figurative way.

11:20 With faith #Isaac asked for divine favor to be upon [or, "Isaac blessed"] #Jacob and upon Esau even about future things.

11:21 With faith Jacob, as he lay dying, asked for divine favor to be upon [or, "Jacob blessed"] each of the sons of Joseph, after he bent over the top of his staff.

11:22 With faith Joseph, when near death, thought about the Exodus of the sons of Israel and he gave orders about what to do with his bones.
