A live discussion of "Day Texts" for Monday, February 4, 2019 — Hebrews 2:10-15 (Greek) from The Great Message translation:

2:10 Indeed, it is right for the one for whom and by whom are all things, the one who is bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the primary leader of salvation by means of emotionally difficult experiences.

2:11 For both he who makes sacred and those being treated as sacred are all from One, because of which reason Jesus is not embarrassed to address them as "brothers,"

2:12 saying, "I will call upon your name with my brothers, in the middle of those gathered together I will praise you!” [Psalm 22:22 (LXX: 21:23)].

2:13 Furthermore, "I have been trusting because of him" [2 Samuel 22:3; Isaiah 8:17 (LXX); Isaiah 12:2 (LXX)]; still further, "Behold! I and the children whom [Jaho(h)-ah] God gave to me" [Isaiah 8:18 (LXX)].

2:14 Therefore, because the children are having a share of blood and flesh, likewise he also shared [or, "belonged to"] the same things, so through death he might annihilate the one having the terrible power over death, namely, the Slanderer [or, "the Devil"],

2:15 and so he might free those who in fear of death were hard pressed into slavery their whole life.
