A live discussion of "Day Texts" with #GregStafford for Thursday, March 8, 2019 — James 1:6-8 (Greek) from #TheGreatMessage translation:
1:6 But you must ask with faith [or, 'trust' (see note)], not while you are doubting. For the one who is constantly doubting has become like a wave of the sea, being blown and tossed about by wind.
[Note on 1:6, “ask with faith/trust”: James regularly uses “faith” in the sense of “trust,” which can only truly come after a person has good reason(s) to believe or to trust someone or something. “Faith” is not blind or based on acceptance of something or someone apart from the best available reasons. Compare the note to James 2:22. See also the article, "Pistis," Watching the Ministry (May 27, 2010), link: elihubooks.blogspot.com/2010/05/pistis.html .]
1:7 For a person like the one who constantly doubts must not think he will receive anything from the Lord,
1:8 as he is a man of indecision [or, 'divided thoughts'], unstable in all his ways.
