Topic of Study: Book of Galatians
Description: The deeds of the flesh are a description of what is evident in the life of a believer who is not engaged in a moment by moment fellowship and dependence on God. The believer engaged in such deeds is not yielding themselves to the Spirit of God dwelling in them and seeking to give more of themselves over to the Spirit's control through prayerful contemplation of biblical truth and responding to what is being revealed to them in the scripture. It is a problem of connection. As Jesus said in John 15:5, "I am the vine, and you are the branches. If you abide in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit for apart from Me you can do nothing." That is certainly could mean nothing but the deeds of the flesh or perhaps even "religious" deeds that have no root in glorifying God.
