Deuteronomy 4:1-7

Deuteronomy 4:1 “Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers is giving you.

Deuteronomy 4:2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 4:3 Your eyes have seen what the Lord did at Baal Peor; for the Lord your God has destroyed from among you all the men who followed Baal of Peor.

Deuteronomy 4:4 But you who held fast to the Lord your God are alive today, every one of you.

Deuteronomy 4:5 “Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess.

Deuteronomy 4:6 Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’

Deuteronomy 4:7 “For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?

Statutes: choq {khoke}

1) statute, ordinance, limit, something prescribed, due
a) enactment, decree, ordinance

Understanding: biyn {bene}

1) to discern, understand, consider
a) know (with the mind)
b) to be discerning, intelligent

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for teaching me your statutes and judgement.

I will observe your ways that I may have understanding and wisdom.
