Have you ever been frustrated with yourself? Maybe there are certain parts of yourself you wish you could change or eliminate altogether.
We all have things we’re working on, but there’s a difference between wanting to improve and thinking that you are flawed. It’s possible that you’ve allowed a failure, a struggle, a bully or an overly critical role- model to define you or tell you that there’s something deeply wrong or lacking in you.
The truth is, regardless of the things you’d like to improve, you are not
“wrong.” You’re not bad, hopeless, worthless, or stupid. If anyone has ever told you these things, they are a liar.
How can I say that without knowing you? Because of Romans 3! Verse 3 asks this question. If everyone stops believing God’s Word, does that make it false? The answer is, “No, of course not!” If everyone disagrees with God’s Word, then everyone is a liar because God’s Word is true! Well, God’s Word has a lot of truth in it about you. And if someone has spoken negatively about your identity in any way, they’ve lied to you.
What is the truth about you? As a believer, you’re a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), accepted (Romans 15:7), brought to fullness (Colossians 2:9-10), and one with Him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17). He calls you His child (John 1:12, Romans 15:7), and not a bad child, but holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight (Colossians 1:22)! You are loved and accepted, just the way you are. The more you realize this, the more you become free to grow and change.
