Many people have an inaccurate picture of God. We think of Him as an old, grey-haired, long-bearded man with a furrowed brow. Often we think
He’s looking down at us with a finger pointed in judgment, but I think e we’re going to be shocked to discover what He really looks like when g we get to heaven.
First of all, why do we assume that God is old? God doesn’t age.
He doesn’t grow frail with time. His appearance is going to be awe- inspiring to us, but I believe that His nature may shock some of us even more. When we get to heaven, if we expect to meet a serious, mean, finger-wagging God, we’re going to be in for a surprise!
If you’ve been living in fear and worry about what God thinks of you,
or if you’ve been consumed with shame that has been limiting parts f of your life, you may need to renew your mind with a more accurate
picture of what God is really like.
In John 1:14 it says that God is full of grace and truth. It doesn't
say He's full of judgment or condemnation. Yes, God stands up for what’s right, but He’s also full of grace, which means He accepts us as we are while empowering us to do better. He knows your deepest,
darkest secrets, and yet He’s saying, “I love you!”
God isn’t angry with you. Today’s verse says we have been saved
from wrath through Christ. Jesus took it for us. All that is left is God’s ? goodness toward us, and that’s why I’m so in love with Jesus!
