Today's Verse - Matthew 13:23 (NKJV)

Do you ever get discouraged when you’re believing for something?
Maybe you’ve been standing on a promise for a while, and you still don’t see any evidence of it coming to pass in your life. It’s easy to get discouraged when this happens, but stay strong. Jesus compares His kingdom to planting seed in the ground in Matthew 13.
When you plant seed into good ground, you don’t have to will it to grow.
As long as you provide that seed with sun, water and good soil, it will do what it is designed to do. It will produce.
The same is true with God’s Word, which is the seed we plant into our hearts through reading the Bible and biblical meditation. We don’t have to will it to produce. Our only responsibility is to keep planting it and to maintain the condition of our hearts for growth.
What does this mean exactly? Well, in Matthew 13 Jesus gives us three conditions that prevent growth and then one that encourages it. God’s Word won’t grow in us if: 1. We don’t understand it (v. 19). 2. We don’t keep establishing ourselves in God’s Word and His principles (v. 21). 3. We allow ourselves to get caught up in the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches (v. 22).
Jesus gives us the key to growing and producing God’s Word in today’s verse: understanding! It comes as you study God’s Word and listen to trusted teaching, asking Holy Spirit for wisdom.
Always go a"er understanding because what you understand can never be stolen from you.
