Today in Worship
In our text today we realize that we are part of something that is bigger than any one of us. 1 Corinthians 12:27 informs us that “you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it”. The visual that the Apostle Paul uses is that of a physical body. One body has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. Jesus as the head of the body connects us to each other and to himself. Jesus wants to form each of you to be part of this interconnected body, where we love each other so well that the world and those in it take notice. It is here, as parts of the Church that we receive the amazing gifts from God in His Word and Sacraments. In the body of Christ, we learn how to love and care for one another. As a healthy and well connected body, Jesus wants to use you and His Church to carry out his mission to the world. In this new year, it is time to connect and take another step forward to grow, serve, and love in the body of Christ.
