In yesterday’s devotion, we talked about the power of envisioning God’s promises. Genesis 29 and 30 prove that the concept is nothing new. Chapter 29 begins with a love story. Jacob loved Rachel so much that he worked a total of 14 years for her scheming father Laban to earn her hand in marriage. Eventually Jacob wanted to strike out on his own in business, but Laban wanted Jacob to continue working with him. As a compromise, Jacob proposed to look a"er Laban’s flocks in exchange for ownership of all the spotted and speckled animals. Laban agreed, but then secretly removed and hid all his spotted and speckled animals. Jacob figured out what his deceiving father-in-law was up to, so as he was watching Laban’s flocks, he engraved stripes onto sticks and stuck them in the mud by the watering troughs where the healthy solid coloured animals mated. When Jacob looked at the animals through the sticks, they appeared spotted, and then something miraculous happened. Instead of producing solid coloured offspring as they should have, they began to produce spotted and speckled offspring, which Jacob took as his own. By envisioning the fulfillment of God’s promise in his life, it happened!
This principle is just as effective now. You need to picture yourself walking in God’s promises. In fact, take some time to envisions that right now. What does each promise look like for you?
As you claim God’s promises and allow them to change your picture of the future, you will find expectation and faith rising within you, and you will walk in the fulfillment of His promises!
