Ephesians 2:15-22, Colossians 2:14-23. Calvinists like Matt Slick of Carm.org try to twist Colossians 2:14 to mean that our legal sin debt was transferred to Christ and then nailed to the tree with Christ. What does "handwriting of ordinances" mean? If we can properly define what "handwriting of ordinances" means then we can properly understand what Paul's point was and the message of Colossians 2:14. Colossians 2:14 has been used by those in the Reformed tradition to teach limited atonement and penal substitution theory of the atonement. In my humble opinion I do not think Calvinists like Matt Slick properly interpret this passage, I also do not believe the greater thrust of the New Testament or the context of Ephesians 2 or Colossians 2 supports such an interpretation. Watch the video as we study along what "handwriting of ordinances" means! It may be more important than you think!
