The Apostles, instead of being hailed for their message of the Messiah, were treated harshly by those who really should have known better. The wise men truly were confounded by the wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:17-30)
The Apostles (we are not sure if it was just Peter and John, or several others) continued to be treated with derision by the religious leaders, imprisoning them, and even killing some – with Peter being next to be killed, but he was miraculously delivered.
This shows Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 1:17-30 to be true, historically and prophetically.
Amazingly, many look at these prison narratives in the Book of Acts as applying to themselves. This is actually true. The example of Peter, and the other Apostles, freedom is certainly a picture of the Believer’s freedom in Christ.
