When we talk about grace, we also talk about forgiveness. Forgiveness should never be sought in a casual manner. To receive forgiveness is life-changing, and gifts that alter the course of your life should not be sought or received with indifference. They are monumental. If you're not forgiven, the full weight of your guilt must be borne by you alone. That's a staggering thought. If you don't have forgiveness extended to you, the full weight of your total guilt is yours alone. We want to know more about how to be forgiven. Jesus taught His disciples to pray:
“'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, … Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors… .' For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins" (Matthew 6:9–15 ). Jesus said that the only way we can be the recipient of His grace and forgiveness is if we choose to forgive.
