How can God give you a life that is better than the one you are currently living? Jesus says to the Pharisees: "Where I am going, you cannot come." They are confounded by this, and wonder if he is going to take his own life. That would be sinful, in their theological understanding. But the sin that Jesus speaks of is self-centeredness, rather than God-centeredness, and the life that Jesus speaks of is the God-centered life -- the one that draws us into eternal life.
