Dr. Jordan Rogers continues preaching through The Book of 1 Timothy in this sermon from 1 Timothy 3:1-7 entitled, “Essential Qualifications for Overseers."
The importance of the pastorate requires the utmost integrity. Because a pastor is responsible to care for the people of God, he must exceptional in his personal qualities, family life, spiritual maturity, and public testimony. These are the biblical requirements for a pastor, and they must never be relaxed.
In 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Paul lists out the essential qualifications for overseers. An “overseer” in the Lord’s Church is a “pastor.” In the New Testament, there are three interchangeable words for pastors (pastor, elder, overseer), all referring to the same office and role. In this sermon, I explain in detail the qualifications a man must fulfill in order to be considered to serve as a pastor in the Lord’s Church.
The following is a sermon from 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and below you will find the video recording and a sermon outline to help you follow along as you watch. I hope this study tool helps you grow in your love for the Lord Jesus and in your obedience to Him.
