Questions to ponder:
1) How do you feel about being commanded to love by Jesus? What do you think gives him the authority to do this?
2) Can you give examples of when churches have failed to be communities of reciprocal love? What would need to change to remedy this?
3) What does it mean to you to put everything on the line for the sake of the other (John 15:13)? Are there situations in which we need to receive instead?
4) Do you find the image of being friends with Jesus helpful? If so, why? If not, why not?
5) How is this reading good news for today?
