2 Timothy 3:10-14

Key Verse: “But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecution, afflictions, which happen to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra – what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.” 2 Tim 3:10-11

Context:
- Deception Attacking Households! 2 Tim 3:16-9
- Jannes & Jambres idol worshippers sorcerers, magicians, enchantments.
Outline:
1) Careful to follow v10-11 follow – go along with, understand, pursue
a. My doctrine
b. Manner of life manner – fashion, behaviour, approach, way
c. Purpose purpose – objective, reason, idea, point
d. Longsuffering longsuffering – forgiving patient, enduring, selfless
e. Love
f. Perseverance perseverance – devotion, steadfastness, endurance
g. Persecution persecution – torcher, intimidation, oppression
h. Affliction affliction – pain, misery, sickness
i. All happen at Antioch, Iconium, Lystra
ii. Persecutions I endured
Out of it all the Lord delivered me delivered – set free, return
2) Live Godly in Christ v12
a. All who live Godly desires
i. In Christ Jesus
b. All will suffer persecution suffer – endure, stomach, experience
3) Watch for evil men v13
a. Imposters will grow worse and worse imposters – phonies, fraud, pretenders
b. Deceiving and being deceived deceivers – swindlers, fraud, cheats, tricksters
4) Continue in full assurance v14 assurance – promise, confidence, trust, believe
a. You must continue
i. In all things that you have learned learn – realize, understand, come to know
ii. Be assured of the doctrines of God
iii. Know who you have learned them from
Hymn: Blessed assurance Jesus is Mine!

Reflection:
Paul’s deep desire for Timothy was that he would be a strong leader, guiding the Ephesian church into a deeper understanding concerning certain kinds of people and how to handle these people with their deceptive truth that they profess to others in these last days. Paul also wanted Timothy to know that it was safe to follow him as he followed Christ Jesus in all areas of living.
